In 2008, America suffered the worst recession in our history. The Great Recession lasted from 2007-2009, with the highest unemployment rate of 10%. The Great Recession began with the bursting of the 8 trillion dollar housing bubble. This resulted in less wealth, and sharp cutbacks on spending. The loss of consumer spending during the recession caused less money to be circulating through the economy. People began losing their houses, boats, cars, farms, tractors, four wheelers, and basically anything else that you had taken a loan on. The recession finally came to an end in 2009 when the government worked the repair the housing market.

In 2001, Apple invented the first ever iPod. The first iPod could carry 1,000 songs , and was portable enough to fit comfortably in your own pocket! This changed the way that the world would listen to music forever. No need to carry a Walkman or CD player that could't fit in pockets or purses, now there was the convenient iPod that slipped in and out of pockets without a problem. The iPod only weighed 6.5 ounces, and cost $399 for a 5 gigabyte model. All models had a white front, with a silver reflective back. The iPod's design is best known by the giant scroll wheel with the built in buttons. The iPod had a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a single FireWire port. The iPod was almost a full inch thick, about 4 inches tall, and had a black and white screen that measured 2 inches! The iPod would lead into new inventions, such as the iPhone, iPad, and the Apple Watch. The original iPod revolutionized the way technology is made and used forever.
